Summer Student – Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Currently, we have an opening for a Summer Student – EHS Coordinator. This is a student position for the summer of 2024. In this role, the Summer Student will focus on supporting a variety of different tasks for the EHS team.

Please note that student positions are offered on a full time or part time contract basis for a maximum of 90 days.

What You Will Be Doing

Support the revisions of the organization’s environmental, health and safety procedures and forms.

May support studies, audits, and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards and regulations.

Support the communication for supervisors in the incident management process.

Promote safety-conscious work performance and training programs.

Ensure adherence to the EHS Act and keep up-to-date records in Sandvik’s database.

Provide recommendations for revisions to policies and procedures, as required, to reflect changes in legislation, legal requirements and/or business requirements.

Assist and coordinate the upkeep and document control process.

Support the incident management process in regard to reporting and analysing data.

Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring along

Working towards completion of post-Secondary education in a related area of study (Occupational Health, Environmental Health or other).

Knowledge of applicable EHS legislation is considered an asset.

Computer skills and experience with Microsoft software and Office suite.

Experience in a reporting and analytics capacity, and producing high-quality data driven deliverables is considered an asset.

Experience collecting and combining a transforming raw data from multiple sources (SQL database, SharePoint Libraries, excel/CSV files) is considered an asset.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Flexible, self-motivated with demonstrated initiative.
